In early 2001, Miller Trucking and Excavating was awarded a project contract that required the concrete foundations of 22 homes they were wrecking, to be crushed and put back in the old foundation areas as fill. With contract in hand, MTE purchased a small track type concrete recycler and went to work on the project. After successful completion of the project, MTE put their sights on more crushing opportunities around the Quad Cities and surrounding area and expanded their recycling footprint. Crushing concrete for other local construction companies on job sites in the community.
After years of watching 1000’s of tons of recyclable concrete be dumped in local ravines and landfills, Jarrod and Justin decided to open a recycle yard to accept the material to be recycled, and offer it to the local consumer as an alternative to raw quarried material. In early 2005 MTE purchased a tract of ground north of Silvis IL, and started accepting materials from contractors for recycle – Concrete, Asphalt, and Brick. At that time, Jarrod and Justin decided to start the recycling arm of MTE and call it Miller Materials.
Today Miller Materials has two locations, the original plant in Silvis and in 2009 we added our Davenport location, both supply local construction companies, industrial users, landscapers, and homeowners with recycled concrete products, topsoil, fill dirt, mulch, decorative rock, and bio swale mix. Both locations have a certified scale to ensure you are getting the amount of product you are paying for. Miller Materials is open to the public and encourage you to stop and see what we have to offer. Bring your own truck or dump trailer and our friendly staff and loader operators will set you up! Miller Materials offers delivery of our products too, right to your home or work site. We have all ranges of trucks to serve consumers with professional, friendly, and accommodating drivers.
